Sterfish's Shounen Onmyouji Tv Review

Shounen Onmyouji

Rated: 8

Overall, this is a show that sneaks up on you. You'll try to write it off as a simple action show, a mediocre product destined to fade into the woodwork. However, once you start watching, you end up enjoying it more than you thought. By the end, you'll wish there were more episodes.

I think this show is one of the more underrated anime series out there today. It's fun to watch, has great character development, some decent action, and a conclusion that gets you emotionally involved. If you're sick of the same old same old, this show is a light and welcome change.

For being a unique hybrid of action and shoujo sensibilities that's enjoyable, the presentation gets an 8.

Sterfish's Ouran High School Host Club Tv Review

Ouran High School Host Club

Rated: 9

Ouran High School Host Club is an incredibly fun show that will hook you from start to finish. It's a very funny show that will be even funnier depending on how much shoujo anime or manga you have watched. It's filled with in-jokes, slapstick humor, romantic elements, and even a little drama. It also doesn't rely on running jokes as much as some anime comedies.

Although it's geared towards girls, guys will get a kick out of this series too if they get past the pretty boys and bright colors. A solid English dub also means that those who hate to "read" their anime won't lose out.

This is a show worth your time and the 13-episode boxsets are a good deal. This hilarious show that has more depth than it seems desrves a 9 for presentation.

Sterfish's NieA_7 Tv Review

Rated: 8

Overall, the show’s presentation is very good. It can be very funny at times. The frequent clashes between Mayuko and Niea provide most of the laughs, but the other characters provide big laughs as well. Chada's naivete leads to some of the show's funniest scenes and situations. Yet, it can also be sad and almost depressing. Mayuko doesn’t really have a social life to speak of and it’s clear that she’s not very confident in herself. The episode where Mayuko is invited to a group date shows how pathetic she can be. Niea is loud and brash, yet that may be her way of dealing with her low-class status. Even as the shifts between the two are sometimes sudden, they somehow work within the show.

This show is not for everyone.

Sterfish's Majutsushi Orphen Tv Review

Majutsushi Orphen

Rated: 5

Despite its shortcomings, the show is actually pretty fun to watch. There is a lot of comic relief, mostly from the characters Vulcan and Dortin. The two dwarf-like siblings always get into mischief that always seems to also affect Orphen and the gang. There is a running joke as to whether or not Dortin is a girl or a boy. Sometimes these two are important to the storyline (like when they take the Sword of Baltanders) but most of the time they are there solely for entertainment purposes. Other comic relief comes courtesy of The Black Tiger, a masked man who attempts to warn Orphen. His ridiculously cheesy introduction and the weird animals he rides (hint: there's not a horse to be found) make for some big laughs. Also, check out the middle two DVDs for hilarious English omake.
